Paramedic Career

When there is an emergency, for example, car accident or a fire, the paramedics are often the first to arrive. They are the ones that quickly care for the injured/sick while transporting them to the hospital. There is a lot of pressure in being a paramedic, because of how much people depend on them. The time required to to become a paramedic can be 12-24 months or more. But before you become a paramedic, you need to become an emergency medical technician- basic, or an EMT-Basic, and also an EMT-Intermediate. In addition to classes, you will also need a drivers license, for driving ambulances. You'll still need to take preparatory classes if you haven't taken the classes yet, and then enroll into a paramedic training program. From there, you'll need to study, pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination and graduate. The median annual pay for a paramedic is about $30,000 annually.
